How it started
For many years I traded cryptocurrencies and stocks manually. What I found is that the most successful strategies entail simplicity, patience, and risk management. I thus omitted any leveraged trading and instead focused on swing trading and long-term holds.
As a software engineer, I tried automating all my manual trading. However I couldn't find anything out there offering the power and flexibility I needed, so over several years I built my own solution; a bespoke actor-model framework — as it seemed a natural fit. Actor-model means independent processes that run and react on their own, a similar idea behind today's AI agents, years before that was a buzzword.
Prefractal grew out of this journey and the technical foundation accumulated over the years. The goal is to bring that same flexibility and power to everyone, in a safe and easy-to-use environment. Effectively, Prefractal is the platform that I would have used myself if it had existed back then.
Our vision
Our journey started before the AI boom. We now want to embrace agentic trading while maintaining user control and safety.
Today you deploy a rule-based trading agent that follows your configuration. Tomorrow, agents reason about live markets and decide for themselves, cooperating with each other and spawning or retiring other agents as conditions change.
It's a shift from watching charts to directing a team that trades for you.
